Movement, play and confidence for little ones, at every age and stage.
A fun, early years movement program from the exercise physiology team at Thriving in Motion, helping children build coordination, confidence and a love of being active.
Mini Moves is a small-group movement program for children aged 2.5 to 6 years, designed to help children build the foundations of an active life through play. It is a parent-assisted program, so rather than dropping your child off, you join in alongside them for the 45 minute session, guided by a qualified exercise professional.
Sessions focus as much on the motivation to join in and the confidence to have a go as on the movement skills themselves, because those are what keep a child active well beyond the early years.
Every child is welcome, whatever their age or stage of development.
The early years are when children form their relationship with being active, and the confidence and enjoyment built now tend to stay with them. Mini Moves is built on physical literacy, the mix of motivation, confidence, movement skills and connection that lets a child enjoy moving and keep choosing it.
Rather than focusing narrowly on sport or skill, we help each child find the enjoyment, and the belief in themselves, that make activity something they want to return to.
Every session run for 45 minutes and follows a simple, playful rhythm, full of active play. Children move through games and activities that build balance, coordination and object skills such as throwing and catching, with plenty of choice and encouragement along the way.
A typical session will include:
Our team adapts each activity so that every child can take part and feel successful, whatever their starting point.
Mini Movers is designed for children aged 2.5 to 6 years of age and welcomes children of every ability and stage of development. It is made for families who want more than a drop-off class, parents who want to be part of their child’s movement journey.

Mini Movers is aimed at roughly 2 to 6 year olds, though the right fit depends on the child more than the age. To get the most out of a session, children need to be able to walk, run and climb on their own, and to engage with or follow their parent through an activity, even if their attention span is still short. For children closer to the older end, it comes down to what they enjoy and where their skills are sitting. If you are not sure whether it suits your child, get in touch with our team for a chat or come and trial a session.
Most definitely. Adapting to a wide range of abilities and developmental stages is exactly what our program is built for. Sessions are led by qualified exercise professionals who adjust each activity to suit the children in the room, so your child can take part at their own level and feel successful. Children who find movement harder are just as much at home here as those who take to it easily, and the individual guidance is often where these children benefit most.
Yes. Mini Movers is parent-assisted, so you take part alongside your child rather than watching from the side. Our instructors guide you on how best to support your child through each activity, including when to step in and when to step back and let them play, which is a skill you carry well beyond the session itself.
Whatever they are comfortable in and can move freely in. Dress-ups are welcome. We do ask that feet are covered, though that can be shoes or just socks, ideally the kind with grippy bits on the sole to reduce slipping.
Most definitely. Your first session is a free trial, so you can see how it suits your family before committing to a term. Get in touch with us at hello@thrivinginmotion.org to book your trial or complete our enquiry form here
Not at all. Variety is brilliant for encouraging your little one to be active, so you are welcome to change who takes part alongside them from week to week, whether that is a parent, a carer or a grandparent.
For sure. We will do our best to support you and adjust the activities so a trio works well together in the session.
