Refer to Thriving

Thriving in Motion welcomes referrals from health professionals, community and education services, and from families and individuals themselves. This page explains how to refer, when funding and rebates may apply, and how to reach our team to talk through a program.

Published 2026

Thriving is a research-active service. Our therapeutic physical literacy model for children experiencing barriers to being active is published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, and the outcome measures we use with your patient have been tested for reliability in this population.

The evidence behind our programs

Do I need a referral?

No referral needed A formal referral or diagnosis is not required to start with Thriving in Motion.

Anyone can refer, and people are welcome to self-refer. If you are supporting a client, patient or family member, you can pass on our details or get in touch on their behalf with their consent.

If you are not sure whether our programs are the right fit, our team is happy to talk it through before anyone commits.

Funding and rebates

Depending on individual eligibility, funding and rebates may be available for our Exercise Physiology allied health services for adults and young people, including:

  • NDIS
  • Private health insurance
  • Medicare rebates

Eligibility and rebate amounts vary by individual circumstances and funding type, and some pathways, such as Medicare rebates, have their own referral or eligibility requirements. Contact our team and we can talk through the options that may apply.

Working alongside your team

Our AEPs are able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside other clinicians and allied health providers already involved in a young person’s care, ensuring the best standard of care possible. For clients with more complex or ongoing needs, we’re happy to coordinate with existing providers, share relevant updates on progress and goals (with consent), and adjust our approach to complement the broader treatment plan.

If you’d like to discuss how we could work alongside your existing care plan for a client, get in touch and we can talk it through.

See the difference it makes

If you are weighing up a referral, it can help to see the service and hear from the families who use it. Our team explains how Thriving works, and parents and young people describe the difference it has made for them.

Hear from families
