Thriving in Motion CEO Bonnie Furzer Named IPAA Not-for-Profit Leader of the Year 2025
A/Prof Bonnie Furzer has been recognised as the 2025 IPAA Leader of the Year in the Not-for-Profit Sector, celebrating her leadership, research impact and commitment to improving health outcomes for young people through movement and exercise. As CEO and founder of Thriving in Motion, Bonnie leads a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing barriers to physical activity for young people experiencing disability, complex health conditions, neurodivergence and social disadvantage.
Alongside her sector leadership, Bonnie is a teaching and research academic in clinical exercise physiology and health at the University of Western Australia. She also practices as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and serves as Service Lead for Exercise Physiology at Fremantle Hospital, supporting both physical and mental wellbeing. As lead of the Mental Health and Exercise Research Group, her work focuses on implementing and evaluating exercise services for populations with unique physical and mental health needs. This national recognition reflects a career defined by evidence-based practice, collaboration and real-world impact in preventative health and youth wellbeing.
