2024 ESSA Practitioner Award for Trans and Gender Diverse Exercise Program
Thriving in Motion has been awarded the 2024 ESSA Research to Practice Conference Practitioner Award for its innovative exercise program supporting trans and gender diverse young people. The award recognises outstanding application of research into practice, celebrating programs that improve health outcomes through evidence-based, person-centred exercise.
The program is designed to create safe, affirming movement spaces where young people can build confidence, develop physical literacy, and experience joy in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. Co-designed with participants and delivered alongside community partners, the program bridges research and real-world practice, ensuring accessibility and relevance for young people with diverse needs.
This recognition highlights Thriving in Motion’s leadership in inclusive exercise, youth wellbeing, and translating research into impactful programs, setting a benchmark for health promotion and engagement for trans and gender diverse communities.
