Thriving in Motion Wins 2025 WA Mental Health Association Diversity & Inclusion Award for Youth Moves Program
Thriving in Motion wins the 2025 WA Mental Health Diversity & Inclusion Award, recognising its innovative Youth Moves Program that supports trans and gender diverse young people through safe, affirming exercise spaces. The award highlights the program’s focus on building confidence, wellbeing, and connection while promoting inclusive movement opportunities free from judgement or gender categorisation.
The Youth Moves Program delivers small-group movement sessions co-designed with young people and delivered alongside community partners, ensuring safety, autonomy, and belonging. As one participant explains:
“Thriving is the opposite of traditional ‘accepting’ spaces — nothing is gendered. Movement is for all of us, and that’s what makes it so good.”
This recognition reinforces Thriving in Motion’s mission to create inclusive health and wellbeing programs, foster mental health, and champion community-led approaches for young people who face barriers to participation.
Acknowledgements: Thriving in Motion thanks community partners including The University of Western Australia, Telethon7, and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, whose collaboration makes this impactful work possible.
