Sally is a clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in adult mental health in a variety of settings. Main specialty is PTSD, suicide prevention and intervention, and critical incident response.
Currently in private practice dealing with adult mental health, training and consultancy. I consult in the Asia Pacific region to improve mental health literacy in the marine industry, mining and energy industries. I love planning and implementing mental health programmes in large companies, training, corporate research and making the changes that make a difference.
Can you tell us a little about your research with MHEX?
I am researching whether and how people thrive in jobs where they are consistently faced with danger. I was inspired to get into this area of research as I have worked with Emergency services and the military and have met the most inspiring, amazing people who really thrive in what they do. I want to know what makes them tick so to speak.
I am super excited about the data I have collected so far, the factors that assist people to really be the best version of themselves.
What’s the part of your work you enjoy the most? And the most challenging?
Doing interviews! I love listening to the stories and after every interview I walk away with a big smile on my face. I would love to be able to help these amazing people and make a real world impact.
Its a challenge for me when to stop! I want to talk to everybody – weirdly, not everyone feels the same……strange.
When you are not at work where can you be found?
Reading, running and baking – a perfect trio.
How would your colleagues describe you in three words?
Eccentric, sarcastic and loyal.

Make a clear plan and stick to it. Also, be pushy.
